“Green Design and Daily Life” was the theme of this year’s Incheon International Design Awards, presented by the South Korean metropolis of Incheon. The best proposals were sifted in a competition organised in collaboration with designboom.com. 3709 designers from all over the world presented their ideas in three categories: “Green design for humans” – products for the home made of natural materials and scraps, which save energy and are not harmful for the environment; “Green design in the city” – ideas, which could improve a city’s environment through the use of ecological furniture, lighting, architecture and interior design; “Green design and communication” – popularising the idea of stable development through the means of graphics, the cinema, animation and illustrations. The jury assessed the aesthetic, ethical, social and economic advantages of each of the proposals and rewarded designs and concepts, which impress with their innovative technological characteristics and their social significance.
